The event, held on 05/07/2026 in the assembly hall of the MRK dormitory, opened with a discussion of the most difficult pages of our history – the dawn of June 22, 1941. The storytellers reconstructed the chronology of those terrible minutes when the peaceful life of millions of people was cut short by the roar of enemy aircraft. The narrators paid special attention to the heroic defense of the Brest Fortress, which was the first to stand in the way of the invaders. Students learned about the unparalleled courage of Efim Fomin and Pyotr Gavrilov, who led the resistance in conditions of complete isolation. The most poignant moment was the discussion of the dying messages of the defenders of the citadel. The phrase “I’m dying, but I’m not giving up!” Farewell, Motherland,” scratched with a bayonet on the wall and found only decades later, became for those present a symbol of the highest degree of self-sacrifice and fidelity to the oath. This discussion helped the children understand the scale of the tragedy that the people faced in the first hours of the war, and the incredible price that the defenders paid for every minute of holding back the enemy.
